Skating & Edge Mechanics Specialist

My name is Sebastien Geerens and I am an independent skating coach and founder of Elite Ice Skating, based out of North Franklin, CT, with over 10 years of experience working with competitive youth, high school, prep and junior athletes across Connecticut and Rhode Island.

My coaching is strictly focused on technical correction. I don't run high-volume cone drills just to make players tired. Instead, I break down a player's actual stride mechanics to fix energy leaks, build deep-edge control, and push their top-end acceleration.

Instead of traditional weekend camps that players forget by Monday, I partner directly with head coaches and hockey directors to support their programs during their weekly practices. I run dedicated technical sessions with the team, integrate on-ice conditioning that tests mental focus under heavy fatigue, and handle 1-on-1 rehabilitation sessions to get injured players back to game speed without picking up bad habits.

Power skating instruction for every goal

Find the right next step for your skating journey. Elite Ice Skating offers supportive instruction designed to help children, teens, and adults build skills at a comfortable pace.

Learn the basics

Start with the essential skills that make skating enjoyable: balance, safe movement, stopping, turns, and confidence on the ice.

Develop your technique

Specialized 30-minute private lessons focused entirely on individual technical correction. I work one-on-one to correct stride, perfect deep edgework, build balance and improve overalll skating skills. These high-intensity sessions strip away bad muscle habits and build the stamina needed to win races to the puck.

Working with your Team

Partnering directly with teams to integrate high-tempo edge modules, stride audits, and conditioning training into their current schedules. Instead of standard cone drills, I work directly with your team staff to identify structural energy leaks on your roster, correct stride mechanics under heavy fatigue, and maximize team transition speed right during your weekly practice slots.

Return-to-Play

Specialized 1-on-1 rehab sessions to safely transition injured athletes from medical clearance back to full game speed. I focus on building back skating skills and power under a strict zero-pain tolerance policy. Most importantly, I work with the skater to regain confidence and return to the game with a positive mindset.

Testimonials

Jessica Hall

We can't say enough amazing things about Coach Seb. Our daughter plays for the Norwich Hockey Club and the difference Coach Seb has made for her is huge. He truly cares about the kids and knows just how to push them to be their best. He takes time to explain things and really makes sure they understand, which sets them up for success. The hockey world needs more coaches like Coach Seb!!!!!

Kristin Bissel

Seb has a special way of working on both technique and conditioning in a way that is fun! He is flexible and will work on what a player or coach thinks is needed at the time. He creates a safe space for skaters to push their limits, try new things and learn from mistakes.

Wayne Sheehan

I have had the privilege of coaching with Seb for the past four seasons. He is dynamic and exceptional. His technical work with my players was tremendous with nearly 1/3rd advancing to Tier 2 Junior A teams upon graduating from our U18 team.

Coaching Philosophy

I always tell my players that I am basically a GPS. I am here to give you the route and guide you, but you are the driver. You have the free will to choose how hard you push yourself.

I have three basic rules on ice:

Make mistakes, Ask questions & Be open minded.

If you aren't messing up or hitting the ice, you aren't finding the actual limits of your edges. Be open to making errors and correcting them. We don't hide from mistakes here—we use them to fix your stride and build real speed.
